He was driving a jet powered Vampire Dragster at speeds between 280 to 290mph (maybe more) when he tried to come to a stop he tried to let out the parachute an it deployed. Scources said that at the scene his head was embedded into the ground and was airlifted to hospital. He is at the moment out of intensive care.

He was driving 300mph in a jet powered engine. He has a brain injury but they think he will be OK. I really hope he won't die. It would be a real shame if he'd be paralyzed because of the brain injury because he's a really funny guy and Top Gear wouldn't be the same without him. As Jeremy Clarkson said 'We want our Hamster back'

Ah poor little Hamster! In todays paper's it says he is up and about having the usual banter with the Top Gear Presenters. Hope he's back on TV soon, as well as being strangly cute, think all 3 of them are quite funny together!

I do hope he's ok. but it was a nasty accident he was in.
my cousin said he was talking to Jeremy Clarkson.

the top gear website says Richard's 'making progress'
and Jeremy says that he's looking forward to getting their 'hamster' back.

Get Well Soon Richard!!

Hi Lisa

As good as you can expect he is out of intensive care however thay are concerned about swelling of the brain.

Only time will tell - the next ten days as the brain completes its swelling and return will tell. The mental aftermath is much harder to deal with. He will need a lot of support.

He's stable but has a massive brain injury...

I wish him well... but i do not think he's coming out the same man he used too be...

I hope his accident will serve as good warning to speed freaks everywhere!

Tis a shame... but i have always said... Speed kills... don't let it Kill Someone else or you!

Peace!

As of today, Saturday 23rd, Richard is up and walking around and he has no memory of the crash as one of the first thing he said was 'have I do anything wrong?'.
