My favourite has been A Midsummer Nights dream ever since I saw a fantastic RSC production of it in Regent's park when I was about 8. The fairies just made me laugh so much.

I love love love love love King Lear. The imagery, the jokes, the characters, the ultimate and mind-racking irony that Shakespeare is an absolute GENIUS at. Macbeth is a close second, simply because Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are possibly the most dynamic couple I've ever seen. Next is Anthony and Cleopatra, and then Much Ado About Nothing.
Summary: all SHakespeare kicks ***.

I've only properly read one, see the movie of another and read the basic plot of two, but I'll have to say Midsummer Nights dream which was the movie I saw, but I also read the basic plot. I like it the best because it brings together love, romance, fantasy and a little comedy here and there. It shows just how fickle love is, but at the same time how you will do anything for love (I'm just a hopeless romantic me :D). Why did you like it?

All of Shakespeare's plays are different (it ranges from tragedy to comedy) and that makes it hard to choose a favorite. Romeo and Juliet, the wording was just so romatic yet at the same time earthly. The Taming of the Shrew was funny yet had a dark sense of humour to it. My favorite would be Midnight Summer's Dream. It's funny, yet he managed to pen the words so amazingly. I love the play, the emotions in it, especially the poems. Shakespeare is truly one of the most inspiring poets.

My favourite is Sonnet 116 as it is how I see Love! It gives me goosebumps!
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
W Shakespeare.

Sonnet 116 is beautiful: 'Let me not to the marriage of true minds / admit impediments, love is not love / which alters when it alteration finds...'
And I guess my favourite play would have to be The Tempest although I'm not familiar with all of them: 'Be not afeard, the isle is full of noises, Sounds and sweet airs that give delight and hurt not...'

My favourite play is Othello, because of the many deep and contrasting themes and emotions. It proved how jealousy and insecurity can ruin even the best of people.
I don't remeber the exact quote, but it's when Desdemo's father told Othello that if she could betray him, her father (by marrying Othello), then she would do the same to her husband (Othello). I believe it was this quote that later led Othello to believe Iago about Desdomona's unfaithfulness, which eventually led to his downfall.
Another favourite of mine is Romeo & Juliet. One of the greatest tragic love stories of all time. "My only love, sprung from my only hate, too early seen unknown, and known too late. Prodigious birth of love it is to me, that I must love a loathed enemy...."

I love Macbeth. I love the downward spiral of the main character. You don't see that in entertainment today. I also like Lady Macbeth. She basically enables and manipulates Macbeth to do things that he doesn't want to do, in a time period where women weren't considered smart.

Well, Romeo & Juliet is my favorite play, but I also love the Tempest and love this quote by Ariel:
Pardon, master;
I will be correspondent to command
And do my spiriting gently.
