what would you like is more appropriate when you have a choice of things and you want to choose one. For example in a restaurant.

What do you like is a more direct question and involves the person thinking of an answer.

"What would you like?" is almost always an offer: I will give it to you if you tell me what it is. It's a more polite version of "what do you want?" It CAN be but rarely is also used to mean "If you COULD have something (but you can't), what would it be?"

"What do you like?" is a question: I am wondering what your tastes are, but I am not saying I can help you in any way.

"What would you like?" is more appropriate when you have a choice of objects to choose from, for example: "We were just sitted on the table when a waiteress came up to us and asked us what we would like to have."

"What do you like?" is commonly used more for asking the person's taste and likes. For example: " My friend came up to me just as another of my friend and I were talking about guide book. When she heard, she immediately said, "What do you like?" which to I replied that I had no favourites."
