You may be referring to Roberto Baggio.
My favorite current Italian players are defender Fabio Cannavaro and GK Gianluigi Buffon, the main reasons why Italy won the Cup.
Favorite Italian players from any era would probably be Paolo Rossi and Dino Zoff of the 1982 team which won the World Cup in Spain.
Rossi won the Golden Boot and the Golden Ball during the tournament, making him the only player to win both awards in the same year.
Zoff is one of the best goalkeepers in history, the oldest winner of the cup at the age of 40, and holds the world record for the longest playing time without allowing a goal (1142 minutes) in international tournaments.

All the players are my favorites. I love them all!! Fabio Cannavaro is the best captain of all times and the best player also. I really love him. Gianluigi Buffon is the best goalkeeper and I admire him for his performances, his looks and for everything about him. He's the best!!! Roberto Baggio was and remains one of the best players of Italy!!!Italy is really very great and they are the champions!!!

My favourite Italian footballer is definitely Francesco Totti... he's the "Prince" of Italian football, an extremely talented midfielder, and he has great looks!
