It only takes me 4-5 days to do the actual packing. The trick is to get organized. Make sure all your filing cabinets, closets and drawers are cleaned out, cleared of junk (take it to a charity or have a garage sale) and ready to pack. Then start with decorations. Go around the house and pack up all decorations like paintings, knick-knacks and such. Then work your way around all rooms. Do 1-2 rooms a day if you have time. Save the kitchen for last (it will take the longest to pack). Use extra pillows and towels and blankets as cushioning for fragile items, thus saving you paper and packing materials. Good luck! I'm also moving again soon. I have moved 18 times in my life, and I now have packing down to a science. I think I could pack in my sleep!

It always takes ALOT longer than you expect! Start packing things1 or 2 months before (depending on how busy you are with work, etc), First, pack the stuff you rarely use.. pictures, ornaments, are a good place to start. In the last week before moving, you should ideally only have the absolute essential items left to pack (a few clothes, toiletries, some cooking utensils, etc). The longer you give yourself, the easier it will be. If you can, be as organised as possible, putting all similar items together in one box and labelling it. This way, you'll easily be able to find things once you move. Good luck!

if you're doing it by yourself, that still depends on the size of your house and the number of stuff you need to pack. Normally, alone, it takes about 2 weeks because of all the knick-knacks and small stuff. But if you're tied up for time, its sometimes better to have a professional mover do it - they can pack up an average 5 bedroom house in 24 hours.

Two men came to my house from the moving company and packed everything up in one day. (ten hours)
On another move I did it myself and it took me four days. The kitchen was by far the most time-consuming.
It's a lot faster if you have your boxes, tape, padding, etc. all stockpiled and ready. And two people can work more than twice as fast as one.

It took me a week to pack up a four bedroom house (wrapping up breakables and putting everything in boxes marked with the rooms they would go in the new place) and the movers took one day to put it in the truck .
There are services that will pack up the whole house for you...from the dishes to the toiletries and clothing etc. but that is too expensive for me.

Start now, by getting rid of anything you haven't used in the last 12 months. Sell it or throw it away. This saves a great deal of time and trouble.
Most people hoard far to much stuff which is useless or has silly sentiment attached to it with no real benefit.
I live with what I can get into one backpack, so it takes me about one hour to pack house.I don't have any other possessions anywhere else in the world. I know many people who live in a similar way - the simple life is the easy life.

depends on how early you start before you move. if the move is in a couple weeks then take a weekend to pack or pack a room a day until the day before you move.

If you take some Stacker Two energy pills it takes a day. If you slack off up to three or four days.

It took me about 3 weeks. First I went through and got rid of things I didn't want to keep, then I put the things I wanted to keep in boxes. I then labled the boxes as to what was in them and put them all together in one room. Everthing was ready and organized when we brought the moving truck in.
