If you are using open office on windows you can use the restore utility (start, programs, accesories, system tools, system restore, and select a date when your computer was fine).
If you are under linux or other system, its better to download the open office and install it again.

- go to the folder which you were saving this document
- show the hidden files
- if you found files start with (~) its is documents
- if this didnt work, simply search for ( ~*.doc ) in all files and folders and hidden files
