I just asked this question yesterday in another category and someone suggested to me this...measure 3 fingerwidths below your belly button and there's a pressure point, press on it for a little while and then let go and it realy does help get rid of them.
There's also one in the ankle but I have a hard time finding it. I think you measure 2 fingerwidths below the bone that sticks out in your ankle (or maybe across from it) and press for a few seconds and then release. I found it a few times but that one is tricky.
Exercising helps too. Aerobics or even walk as much as you'd hate to when you have cramps.
And this one I usually do but I try to avoid milk because of lactose. The week before your period have an extra intake of Calcium in your diet. Eat a yogurt, drink OJ (the one w/calcium) and a glass of milk (if you can) everyday until your period. The cramps will be less severe.

I find that going for a walk really helps. Any kind of light physical activity (streching helps too). When I get cramps (which is every period) I take a couple Tylenol, then go for a 20 to 30 minute walk. When I get home, I turn on the heating pad, and sit with that on my back and drink a cup of tea (non caffeine). If that hasn't helped, I then go soak in a really warm bath until the water is almost cold. Usually by then, they are gone.

1. Reduce your consumption of salt, sugar and caffeine during the week before your period to prevent cramps or reduce their severity.
2. Increase your intake of calcium-rich foods such as milk, yogurt or leafy green vegetables.
3. Keep in mind that a high-potency B-complex vitamin may help if you're susceptible to menstrual cramps. Vitamin B 6 is especially important, but don't take more than 100mg per day.
4. Apply heat to your muscles when cramps occur. Take a hot bath or place a hot water bottle on your abdomen or lower back.
5. Get moving. Sitting or lying around may actually make you feel worse. Swimming and walking are good activities because they are gentle and not too stressful. Certain stretches and yoga positions will also help to relieve the pain.
6. Avoid standing for long periods if you have pain in your lower back.
7. Massage your lower back to relieve tension and pain.
8. Take ibuprofen or naproxen to help relieve cramps.
9. Take a break, breathe deeply and listen to soothing music.

when I was a young girl, I would roll around on the floor with such terrible cramps. I thought my insides were coming out. However my mother being from the "old" country would make me a hot toddy. She would boil water and pour it into a coffee mug. Adding to that a small amount of whiskey. She would tell me to drink it very slowly. In know time the cramps would be gone!! The same recipe works for colds/flu. Just add honey and lemon, no whiskey. My mother is gone now but she had many old remedies that I still use today. You will need your parents permission and supervision to make the hot toddy. Good Luck

I know there's a pill called Feminax...that is sooo amazing! But try lying on your bed and have your legs up against the wall...so you're in a knd of L shape. Try having a hot water bottle to help the muscles relax too.
