Why don't you turn the tables on them - make out as though you're interested and keep it up right until the last minute and then tell them you've changed your mind.
I found that that's the best way to deal with the phone call merchants too. I'm really fed up with getting (pre-recorded) calls from America telling me that I've just "been selected" to be offered god knows how long over there for £99 all-in, and in the end I pressed "9" for further details, got through to a REAL person in America (which was costing THEM of course !!!) and went through all the procedure right up until the time they asked for my credit card number, and then I said "Oh, I can't pay you by CC to America over the phone as my CC company won't accept responsibility when it all goes wrong, so sorry, and goodbye"!
It's funny, I've never had a call from them since !!!

I am a former member of Barclays staff and know that they take great interest in that sort of thing. If I were you, I would visit the Barclays website and look for a contact link. I would then send one or more of the spoof e-mails to them so that their fraud team can investigate them.

I get loads from banks and I'm not even their customer! That's a sort of dead giveaway that it's false!
If you want to keep email I think it's just a fact of modern life you have to live with. Give the delete button plenty of exercise!
