I think most tycoons are too busy enjoying their money for their own personal reasons. The snobbishness that comes with that sort of money, gives them the impression that they are "above" everyone else - always look after number one. Sucks dunnit!

Richard Branson is the worlds best entrepreneur and no-one comes near to him except perhaps Bill Gates. But its typical of Richard to be first in with a terrific gesture like this but I wonder who might follow him, if anyone. Your a great man Sir Richard and I wonder the people who are getting back at you to say your planes cause a big % of the pollution, I wonder if those same people use a plane for their hols?

Branson is exceptional! He is a true man of his own heart and money has not made him empty or devoid of humanity. As for the likes of Donald trump etc all those sick bastards living in their perfect gold coated worlds would never do such a thing after all trump might run out of wigs, and the pop celebs like Paul McCartney or Bono prefer to bullshit than hand over a penny...

Rock on Richard, I'll be having a pint just for you this evening..

"Tycoon" - HAW!
Branson is a peach. But then, Bill and Melinda Gates are doing great things, too. So are a LOT of the super rich. Lese majesty, I guess.
Not all the incredibly wealthy are buying 189-foot megayachts with diamond-encrusted anchor chains and platinum screws. But even those idle morons do help out by paying at least a portion of the taxes they owe, which is (in the US anyway) taxed at a MUCH higher rate than most of us are subjected to.

Richard Branson has done this to get more publicity for his companies and for the ordinary man on the street to think he is doing it for the environment. What you have to ask yourself is will it really help in the long run, not that much because people may think that they don't have to because he is doing it for us when we go on a Virgin train or plane.

yeh richard branson is brilliant i really like the way he goes on, such a friendly guy and his planes were the best for such a long time he really jammed virgin into the position they hold at the moment. well done richard! but to fight global warming needs more than cash, its really something we need to smash into education and awareness programs/ ad's like NSPCC etc.

again well in richard, may i have a job please?

admire his gesture but its Ironic that his virgin travel empire contributes so much greenhouse gasses to the environment.

Yes I agree, there are not many who will follow him. Most are just out to make money for themselves.
