How Ya doin'? I don't actually think it matters if you are using xp "Home" or "Pro" , but I'll tell you what I know about transferring files with XP Professional. Microsoft probably didn't want every single customer to (at some point) contact them about this very issue and so they've included a "Transfer files and settings Wizard" to help you and avoid the contact. It's pretty simple to use but can be confusing. By the way...you certainly can use your originally purchased disk 400 times if necessary. In any event , this is the way for you to move to a different computer.
ON THE COMPUTER YOU ARE CURRENTLY USING : Put your xp operating system disk into the cd rom...If you are configured properly then the autorun function will start the cd and the XP options menu. Given four (4) choices , you want to choose PERFORM ADDITIONAL TASKS. The following options window will include TRANSFER FILES AND SETTINGS. When you activate this option , the Wizard will guide you through the process but this is where it gets a bit weird.Just remember that, your computer isn't going to explode and you should not lose any data. After the introduction page you will be given two (2) choices....NEW COMPUTER ( which is erroneously highlighted) and OLD COMPUTER (which you should change as your first choice.) What will happen next is that all of the files , folders...etc that you choose will be collected. Just follow the directions. After they've been collected , and the Wizard will tell you what to do , you will be installing them onto your new system. This means that your final choice of Old or New , should be your new computer. The files will be loaded by the Wizard (at your command) and your Windows XP operating system and well as all of your personal data will be ready to use on your new computer and without all of the headaches. So relax. It's a piece of cake. Good Luck.

If you only going to be using 1 machine and you have a retail (not OEM) copy of XP then you should be fine a you have obtained a single license however if you want to use the same disk on both machines you will be accused of piracy etc.
A suggestion, make one machine Linux (PCLinuxOS) is very good, simple and above all free and will communicate happily with any other machine you insist on keeping that Microsoft gunk.

If you have a different configuration on the machine you want XP to be trasfered to, chances are your XP will ask for reactivation. That is if your XP has the type of licence that requires the activation crap. I suggest you do what I did yesterday: screw XP and reinstall it on your new machine although reinstalling drivers, programs and stuff will take lot's of time...To contact Mircosoft isn't wise because they may think you are planning to install 1 licence on 2 PC's....

yes this is very possible...but yes wht to do with Isp address (internet service provider) you can do it anywhr it doesnt matter wether you have same isp or not!
you better make a ISO image using a software( e.g. use Nero) and then transfer it on internet
you must be wandring how to do all this?thn here's the solutions
1> make a download of a software called *pando* it wld let you attach upto 1GB file with your email account
you can attach tht XP ISO image wid tht and download it wherever you want too..(in ur case Tht same Isp terminal comp.)
2> make an account at http://www.goowy.com/
it has 1 GB file uploading and downloading services,,,and guess your ISO of WINXP wld be less then 1GB
3> upload tht XP Iso to any of p2p filesharing network and get it downloaded later..i m talking about Imesh, bittorent, emule, morpheous, limewire network and later get it downloaded anywhr..wid same netwrk address
and yes when you have finished with your downloading just use similar software (like Nero in ur case) and write another CD of it and use those regestration formalities and ya wld be all done
and its is quite possible tht you cld find readily available XP Iso over thr at P2P networks
have fun!

That procedure won't work... Consider thinking if both computers are not identical which means different settings and it would only cause WinXp to error..
and I don't think that the other computer from files have being transferred will boot up nicely..
