I don't believe in any of so-called 'alternative' remedies. Nurofen cold and flu is great, top it up with some vitamin C. Have a bit of a steam bath - bowl of water from the kettle, towel over your head, stick your head over the steam for a few minutes. Then jump into bed for a couple of days. If you're at work, go home. People often struggle into work with a cold and make everyone else sick. If you feel really bad, take some time off!

When I lived in UK I always used Nightnurse or Daynurse, also found lemsips to be good. Don't mix them both though as I think both contain paracetamol. With a cold there is nothing to get rid off it, it has to run its course in your body, you can only relieve the syptoms. Also have a warm bath, with some oils or Radox to sooth your muscles.
I've got a cold too, sucks huh? I am finding today I am better if I do things, when I sit I feel like S**T but if I move around doing the housework I am thinking of that instead of feeling bad about myself.
Good luck and wish you a speedy recovery.

Take a shower with water as hot as you can stand. It will help open your head. If you have to go to work, take some Day quail. Keep some teabags around and sip warm tea. Better would be if you could stay home and rest. Maybe have some chicken soup, even if it comes out of a can. There is something about chicken soup that opens up nasal passages that makes breathing easier, I hope you feel better soon.

There are pills that can suppress the uncomfortable feelings you have. I don't recommend them because feeling healthy while you are actually ill makes you do things that can worsen the disease or slow down the healing process.
I'm afraid there is no medicine that cures you as quick as snapping your fingers. But there are a few things that you can do to speed it up a bit :
1. take loads of vitamin C, it is in oranges, kiwi, fresh orange juice or tea with lemon and honey.
2. take a hot bath to get warm. Keeping warm is always good for you during a cold as it usually helps killing off the virus that harms you.
3. eat as many warm meals instead of cold dishes. Weird enough it says that one or two icecreams are good, but cold dishes like sandwich or snacks don't help you along.

Get a good medicinal balm that you put into hot water in a bowl or basin and then put a towel over your head and inhale the vapours (not the water!) this really clears out your sinuses and you can do it a number of times a day. A spot of whiskey in with some hot water and honey will perk you up a bit and help fight the germs and some good old fashioned soup will keep your strenght up. Take paracetamol to lower your temperature if you have one and to deal with any aches and pains.

Hiya, sorry you are not well, im getting that way myself.
Anyway its the usual lemsips or beechams plus.
Take a real hot bath the steam will help clear your airways.
If you have one of those face steamers it will do the job but i always feel suffocated using one of those.
Use olbas smelling oils on tissures or pillows to help you breath.
Failing all of that, get a dvd ect and your quilt and lay on the sofa or your bed and wait it out, at least your be comfy.

Try to rest as much as possible if possible sleep all the time. Drink as much water as you can stand, cover yourself with many blankets and have the electric blanket if you have one as high as it will go, if not start with a hot water bottle. Take a great lot of vitamin C if you have it or garlic tablets, otherwise any source of vit. C - garlic, onions, strawberries, citrus fruit. BE SURE TO DRINK LOTS OF FLUID! And then wait it out. But above all stay warm.

Yes, Dayquil/Nightquil or other cold medicines will help relieve those crazy symptoms, but the only defense against the common cold is your immune system. Give it time and hang in there.
