This is a 3-part question: I'm from Florida, and I'm ready to explore other territories, so (1) how cold is cold in Vermont and (2) how well-received and (3) how well paid do you think world-jazz music would be in Vermont and surrounding states within a 5-hour-drive all year round? Thank you in advance to any of you with realistic guesstimates or actual experience.

Vermont gets really cold.

I suggest you try New York City. The jazz scene is great. It's expensive to live in the city, but you can live in NJ or even PA where it's really cheap. The drive from the Delaware river is abut one and a half hours.

I live in Puerto Rico and visited Conn. in January. If feels bitter cold but you can get used to it since it is so beautiful, especially the snow. Within 5 hours you can find all the music you could dream of but musicians have the same problems everyone.

You have to deal with certain other musicians who are unreliable or too full of themselves. My son lives in Conn. and has his own circle of friends from his work so he really has little contact with the locals but your experience might be different.

I think you can make friends anywhere if you are friendly. People like to hang out with musicians.
