In the UK. A crossed postal order needs to be paid into your bank account just like a cheque. If it is uncrossed, simply take it to the post office and they will give you the cash in exchange.

If it is crossed then you can take it to the post office or your bank and they will just give you the money.
If it is not crossed then you need to pay it into your bank account and wait 3-5 (sometimes 7) working days for it to clear
