I don't like compromises, I'm an all or nothing kind of person. Though at times I settle for less as long as it gives me an opportunity to make it more in a short while. The next best thing always makes me think of the better thing I had in mind, so in that sense it really spoils the next to best. Though further down that slope again I can mostly enjoy whatever I get. It's just that so close to the best thing, every other thing totally pales. Compare it to all those people on the Olympics, the silver medalist will always feel like the biggest loser for being so close to total victory!

We have a saying in UK "The best thing since sliced bread" Why I do not know because most sliced bread you buy here is inedible.
