No. While telling the truth can lessen our burden or guilt it may not be what the other person is wanting to hear.

I always think honesty is the best policy. Even when it is tough. But there is also a difference between honesty and Brutal honesty. If you want to be honest you can do it in a way that doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. Say a friend does ask you if you like their new sweater and you don't. Instead of lying about it or saying how much you hate it, perhaps you could find something nice (and honest) to say about it. Maybe you like the color, or maybe the cut of it. If there really isn't anything nice you can say about it, you can always ask them where they got it or how much they paid for it. If the friend pushes, then say it's not really your style, but you are glad they like it.
There are so many times in life that people lie when they really don't have to. And teaching our kids that little white lies are okay only sets them up for more lying in the future. I always say stick to the truth, that way you don't get tangled up in lies. Just my thoughts on it.

Yes it is . If you tell the truth all the time then you will always have a clear conscience and never have to worry about a thing in any case.
But how many of us can really tell the truth all the time?

it would depend on the subject: ie 'does my bum look big in these pants' would probabley require an answer that has a slightly diplomatic angle ie don't say, no it's all the chocolate that you eat that makes it look big, but rather, I've seen you wearing pants that do more for you.
However, if it's a sort of shall we keep the baby or get an abortion type of question, then maybe the truth would be better.

It depends on the situation. If telling the truth will hurt somebody, then do not tell the truth at hand and give time before voicing out.

NO! "The Truth Hurts" and even though honesty is a good policy, it should be tempered with empathy for the other person's feelings or mental state.

No, its not... one has to be judicious in that... sometimes if lie can save some innocent its better to lie than to say something which probably may jeopardies an innocent.
Otherwise its always good to be truthful.

not always....if someone at work for instance, was wearing a new shirt or outfit, and it is something that I myself would never wear, cause' I think its ugly, I would fib and say that looks nice...I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings, they like it, so thats all that matters...sometimes you bite your tounge, to avoid Drama, think it really depends on the situation....
