The above are all US Government websites to help you with the research process. Educationusa should be a very good starting point.

Much financial aid is available. It is nearly impossible to tell from a University website what your real costs will be, because of the amount of financial aid. Private schools are more expensive than public ones(owned by a state government), but Private schools have much more financial aid available. So much financial aid goes unclaimed because it is strictly limited.

Additionally, it is possible that some programs could defer some fees, if you agree to practice in the USA for a period of time, but check with State Dept on that. The schools will help you negotiate the process.

Most universities have websites. The USA has a great need for health care workers, but I am unsure of the numbers of positions available. However, many schools do allot a certain number of positions for foreign students.

Good Luck to you

I don't think that you would have any particular problems applying to an American college from Britain. I have had lots of international students in my college classes and British education is highly respected.

There are lots of publications about American colleges. THe most famous is the annual ranking of colleges in the US NEws magazine. That is online. Of course, the top schools in that ranking are extremely difficult for anyone to get in. But what would be useful for you is that they list 2 -300 very respectable schools. That would be a starting point for you. All of the schools have websites, usually Smith College would be smith.edu, etvc.

If you emailed a school and told them you were interested, I think they would help you deal with the visa matters. You could not expect much financial help, as most US scholarships are government supported and are only available to US citizens.

One problem is that the specific course you mention is a very popular one and there are not many schools that offer it, so the competition is rather tough to get in. But I think you should look into it and see what they say. I don't think you should worry too much about which school you go to as long as they are on the US NEws list or if they are a school run by one of the state governments, like University of New Hampshire, or University of California at Davis. etc.

Check it out. Good luck!
