yes you can. coincidently enough this happened to me a few years ago. i was at another university and did a course which i didn't enjoy doing and wanted to transfer to somewhere else after one year. you have to apply through UCAS again though and fill out the form with different details and attach a personal statement to it as well. depending on what your results were and whether the course you are applying for is relevant to your furture career, you may progress onwards to the second year if you pass the first. if not, then you'd have to do the first year all over again but with a different degree. but as you stated normally you can do the same subject in the second year but at a different university.

on the UCAS application form on section 3 where it says 'applications in alphabetical order of institution name', fill out the institution code name, code, course code, short form of the course title as before and in the 'g' column where it says point of entry underneath it, write 2. the number 2 denotes the year of study of your course.

you have to apply fast; otherwise you'd miss out. afterwards, you should receive a few offers from the universities to be interviewed and alas choose the one that best sutis you. best of luck!

Transferring Universities After First Year

Hi yes you can but you really need to act now, ie: email the course director or admissions of the uni you want to go to. You more than likely will have to start at level 1 again unless they are satisfied with what you have already covered module wise and have a generally good profile so have all this information on hand when you make contact as enrolment has already began in many places. Good luck!

you can but different universities cover different modules at different times within the degree so you may have to redo the first year so i would say go to the uni you want to now rather than having to worry about a transfer next year. all the best

Yes, first year transfers are usually allowed. Talk to your course advisors to find out the exact procedure for you. Don't leave it to late though, transfer after the first year and you might lose your funding.

Yes, but they not let you start in year 2, you might have to do year 1 again.

You don't say where you are in the world? In the UK we have a European Credit Transfer Scheme (ECTS)
