I am taking a modern science class and the underlying arguement is which came first: science or technology. I know what I think but would like to hear more educated opinions with examples and reasons.

Technology, especially in tool making, predated modern humans, hominids had the technology to create simple stone tools, probably other tools which remains did not survive, even chimps have very rudimentary technology skills, they can learn to take a twig and modify it to fish termites.
Science is the methodical study of phenomena and definitions of rules concerning these phenomena, you could say that Egyptians had a rudimentary science in the way they experienced with irrigation systems and construction of Pyramids.

Science is a way of thinking. You could have some technology without science but I don't really see the point behind your question

Technology is more practical. Humans must have started putting thins together and used technology before they came up with explanations which is science.

technology is application of science.
for ex electronics is application of physics.
and bio medicine is application of biology & chemistry
