Most teenagers are angry about something and want to "bring down society". Most of it is harmless, but Islamic fundamentalism is like the Hitler Youth - it takes teen rebellion and turns it into something deadly.
But what can Muslim parents do, any more than the parents of Goths, punks, moshers and other rebels do to prevent it?
Kids are kids - it isn't the parents who are fuelling the violence, but terrorist organsiations and to some extent their apologists, like the Muslim Council of Britain who refuse to fully condemn the terrorism.
This is a geoploitical global problem. Why do the parents have to get the blame? Surely most of them are decent, ordinary working people who have no more idea what their kids get up to than anyone else?

The parents should still be able to control their kids. Anyhow Msulim fundamentalism is a religous and way of life with killing and hate as part of the teachings. you cant say that about goths, punks etc which are a subculture rather than a way of life.
Muslim parents should be aware that their kids might stray towards the fundamentalist route and teach them not to.

Maybe you dont know what a Home Secretary is... he is responsible for the protection of our country and if muslims would just listen and realise that the problem exists in their community and their people then maybe we can put an end to this problem. Every suicide bomber has parents, and i am sure in many cases the parents have been aware what is going on.
What John Reid said is completely sensible, once again the muslims made themselves look bad by not listening and asking why just the muslim community was being asked to keep an eye on their kids - err derrrrrrr maybe because its the only community that is inflicting these barbaric acts in this country.
If muslims stopped playing the victim and opened up it would be better for everyone.

The problem we have in general is that nowadays no parent, teacher, anyone, is able to give a kid a slap when they would have had one in years gone by. The education system in this country nowadays is driven purely by managers whos only interest is statistics based on the 3 R's. Any chance of kids being educated about life is out the window.... those that want to learn the wider things of life are prevented unless parents now take up the education cudgel - because they dont get it in school nowadays.
Kids are being done a great diservice by the way do gooders have taken over this country. We are all animals on this earth and what other animal learns about living by being wrapped in cotton wool .
Parents are blamed for the kids and told they should keep them in line by politicians, who in the same breath are more than willing to haul the same educating parent through the courts for infringing on a childs liberties. Its crazy.
Do what you can to guide children into modern life because the education system has forgotten its foundations for why it exists. Teachers are the ones I feel for as well... because they get blamed also - but all they are allowed to do is also follow the system put in place by politicians andconsultants.
I dont think he was singling out Muslim parents in th eway the question was asked............. he was just using that route as its topic of the week. Next week he will probably be blaming parents who both go out to work leaving kids alone. Again a situation created by government where they have fabricated the living costs in this country to such a high level that two people going out to work is now a necessity just to keep a loaf of bread on th etable and a roof over the head.
I wouldnt defend Mr Reids singling out of a group (any group), but I equally wouldnt defend those group representatives who claim they are being victimised in deference to other groups. ALL GROUPS are picked on. remember that.

He has the same right to lecture muslim parents as he has (as Home Secretary and thus with a remit to address all issues affecting UK law and order) and other element of society who may have unique or specific responsibilities in particular circumstances.... and you;re comparison to goths, punks etc is entirely wayward.... since when did goths bring down anything? They're too busy being pale and interesting indoors, writing cr*p poetry and planning weekend trips to Whitby to upset the government... and the thought of a bunch of punks hi-jacking a plane and flying it into the World Trade Centre outraged at the new attempts to release digital remastered CDs of the first two ramones albums is interesting but, you will agree, ludicrous....
Oh, and Michael K, you're a buffoon....

I believe each and every thing John Reid stated (for as quickly as). it extremely is the civic accountability of all individuals of society to be vigilant and do each and every thing they could to help evade further terrorist assaults. Seeing as how the perpetrators of those assaults are muslims then the muslim community has a considerable function to play in this. it extremely is their responsibillity as British electorate. It says lots approximately somebody in the event that they have a difficulty with that.

Until we come under a new religion that repents from eternal damnation worship, that affirms truth and only begotteness and sources of that, we will continue to see this rebellion take place. Generally the human spirit in newly awakenned citizenship will naturally oppose that which does not work until it is stopped. There is no eternal damnation. One God cannot separate from itself. When eternal damnation is shoved down a person's throat and memorized, it creates a chaos in the mind as that person's subconsciousness realizes that eternal damnation and One God do not go together. This condition is the sleeping giant seed of all terrorism and it starts with organized religion placing value in eternal damnation as a subliminal worship worthy subject.

The trouble is that all we here is the radical Muslims. The moderates are not standing up to them for fear of their own lives.
I don't feel like he probably had the right to discuss their children with the Muslim people. All parents are fanatical when it comes to their children

I agree with you to some extent, kids and teenagers that eventually become terrorists may start off as wide eyed, rebellious and naive, but their natures are corrupted by fanatical adults who use them to do their bidding. Its called Cannon fodder and its been around for centuries.

nice try. Muslim parents have a stronger hold on their kids, simply by threatening them with severe punishment. if Muslim kids are doing something illegal, someone in their family knows exactly what, and their religious leaders are behind it which means their father also knows.

What right have muslim parents to turn a blind eye?
But seriously we have to work together to root out violence and hatred however it is justified.
