My whole system crashed last week so I had to reinstall windows from scratch. I've just reinstalled my btbroadband but I've got no thumbnail(icon), I cant get my homepage back either. How can I get it all back to how it used to be?

If you installed windows from scratch that means you reformatted your hard disk which means you erased all your previous data and settings and there is hardly any way to restore back but to manually do everything once again.

If you're looking to simply get your icon for Internet Explorer back and set it to show a certain homepage upon opening, do the following: (I'm assuming you're using Windows XP)
1. Click the Start button, you should see Internet Explorer in this menu with the blue 'E' icon.
2. Highlight Internet Explorer, then click and drag it to the desktop using the RIGHT mouse button.
3. When you let go of the button to release the icon on the desktop, a menu will appear asking if you want to Copy, Create Shortcut, etc...select 'Copy' and you'll have Internet Explorer on your desktop.
4. To set the homepage, open up Internet Explorer...click on the 'Tools' menu...select Internet Options...then type in or copy/paste the URL of the desired homepage into the appropriate box. Click OK and you're all set!

As for the rest of your files...unless you created a backup before you reformatted and reinstalled, they are lost forever. Programs can be reinstalled from CD-ROMS, etc. Good luck!

With great difficulty - I asked a question on here once why can't our pcs' be littered with UNDO BUTTONS - and the response I got back was I should learn how to use my computer properly. This I feel was gross arrogance - and feel that they should be easy to understand - I'm trying to get my mind round zip files at the moment - as the saying goes 'don't even go there' !!!

most likely you cant get it back, you can try going under the start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore, then pick the date that you want to restore your computer to, a system restore is reversible so dont worry about that. but like its already been said, most likely you wiped the hard drive clean, sorry =( good luck!!!!
