in democracy, people choose a party or a group of parties to rulled over the country, I mean to form a government. majority party or parties elected MPs elect their Leader of the house or/and PM.
if you know this basic thing of democracy, then how you ask about this system. so far i know about democracy, not only in GB, anywhere in the world, majority party/parties MPs in the perliament can change their Leader(PM) at any time. for this no need general election.

The Prime Minister is not the leader of Great Britain, that position is held by HM Queen Elizabeth II.

In the UK, the common people like you and I, vote for a party to lead the country and not one individual.

Is this a true democracy... no. So put up or shut up or move to the US, where the majority of them voted for Bill Clinton, because he had a nice smile.

People should vote on the parties policies, not who the leader is.

If you vote for a particular party then providing they stick to their manifesto (granted they don't always which is a little unfair) it shouldn't matter too much who the leader is.

Remember it's the policies that count, not the person.

I'd vote for Sir Alex Ferguson, if it has to be another Scot.
