Different educational institutions have different criteria. Depends on the college where you're applying. They will need you to score a specifc target to give you admission. Usually, something around 1200 to 1300 is a great score. Don't care about the colleges etc., make up your mind and work hard to score as much as you can. Best of luck!

There are more than 6000 post-high-school institutions in the USA. At least half of them have average SAT scores between 1000 - 1200. I think it is asking a LOT to expect someone here to search out all the SAT scores for all 3000 of them!!!

Check the collegeboard.com address and/or

Go to the websites for schools you are interested in and they will list the SATs for students who were admitted in this years class.

I got 2 perfect scores in math and reading, but my writing score was only 720, for a total of 2320. I only read this SAT guide, and that is how I got such high scores:

I recommend this guide to anyone seeking to get a higher score to get into a first choice college.

The college should tell you in the application packet you get. I know my college accepted the State Average for that year when I applied.
