Google is a search engine. It has a big data base which stores the link and descriptions of the web sites. When you fire a search, the search engine lists down the entries which has the matching words from your search. If you have a web site and you want people to find it in the google you can register your web site with google.

example: if you want search: Mail Yahoo, You just write : yahoo and you can all about yahoo.
