Probably. In fact, if we live in an infinite universe, then it is certain that there are other lifeforms out there - some of them identical to you except they had a different breakfast on 22nd April 1992.
The problem is that these identical and near identical copies would be so far away that over the life time of the universe light will never be able to travel from here to there.
Life began on earth pretty much as soon as it could - shortly after the planet had cooled down enough. So it seems probable that on other planets simple life forms have evolved.
One of the big bottlenecks for life on earth was the development of multi-cellular creatures. That took a very long time to arrive... and we can't tell how likely it is that multicellular life has evolved elsewhere. So it may be that most off earth life is bacteria like.
I do not believe that aliens are travelling to earth, flying through the atmosphere and mutilating cattle or kidnapping texan farmers and *cough* probing them. Any aliens capable of travelling here would surely have better technology than a rectal probe, and would be capable of remaining unnoticed if they wanted.
The problem is the Fermi Paradox. If there are aliens out there, why can't we see them? It would only take a few million years for a species to colonise the galaxy, even travelling at sub-light speeds. And a technologically advanced culture should leave signs that we can spot - they would be able to alter the evolution of stars, even enclose them to make use of all the energy a star produces. But we don't see any of this large scale engineering, so the conclusion is that if there is other intelligent life out there, it never makes it beyond its own solar system.
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm forced to conclude that while life may be abundent, we won't be chatting with any neighbours any time soon.

I would have to believe that there are, but would certainly add that we aren't being visited by intelligent aliens now, or in the past.
The closest example we have of an alien was found in Antartica in a meteorite that came from Mars. AH0004 (Allan Hills). It is a fossilized bacteria that is so small that people are debating whether or not it is possible for life to be that small (it's 10 times smaller than the smallest bacteria on Earth).
The best places to search for traces of life in our solar system are Mars (underground water may contain some bacteria). But also there are the moons around Jupiter. Europa being the most exciting because it is believed to have oceans of water underneath the crust of ice on the outside.
Life needs stable environments, even if they are extreme environments, it still needs something that doesn't change much.
SETI is an attempt to listen (and soon watch) for any intelligent life...But I happen to believe that as a species becomes intelligent enough to communicate electronically, that they'll soon discover more efficient means of communication that are unable to detect.
An example of this is quantum communication. Using a method of quantum "entanglement", two points can send and receive information without requiring transmission. The information is sent instantaneously and is not bound by the speed of light (something Einstein called "Spooky action at a distance". Sending information in this way prevents anyone from being able to intercept it since there isn't anything to intercept. While it seems like science fiction, it won the Nobel prize for actually conduction experiments with it, and is now of significant interest for quantum computers as well. Within the next 100 years quantum technology will change the civilized world as much as electricity has changed it in the last 100 years.
Feel free to write me if you would like more details.

.Life abounds through out the galaxy and we are here. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species and your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

My Theory: Man has been around for 2.25 million years, all of a sudden he got very smart, in a short amt. of time. I think Alien's mated with us, or at least said "This is pathetic, we must give them "SOME" intelligence.

Yes, there are. I suspect they come from their alien parents.

No one is sure.
We are trying to communicate with any form of aliens.
For more info Google SETI.
As to why, think yourself. You will get it.
