There aren't many fat people in Japan. I know there are some, but it's not very common at all, are people teased and ridiculed more over there? Like the kids in school? What do Japanese think about other Japanese people that are fat?

There aren't as many heavy people in Japan because their portions are small (reasonable). I used to live there and yes, there are less heavy people, maybe it's due to genetics and/or their food culture, but I don't think they get teased in school anymore than here. In fact, I'd venture to say the school environment is much less hostile than in the U.S. The U.S. does have a very looks obsessed culture, that just doesn't really exist in Japan, like it does here. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents.

There are many moderately fat people in Japan, but extremely fat people are few (Sumo people are exceptional) .

I think one of the reasons why there aren't many fat people in Japan is because food in Japan is expensive.
Vegetables are not so much expensive, however, for example, majority of Japanese people cook rice everyday at home but a 2kg bag of Japanese rice costs around US$10!! I think this circumstance also helps Japanese people keep fit.

I think thats depends on person. Some might say 'disgusting' other people think that they are just fine.... u know!? I personally don't think anything bad for fat people. Actually I've never saw that kids are bullying fat kids at school in Japan... (or Ive never ever done).

The fat man is reviead as a God in Japan and China....lol

I mean they have Fat gods. The God of fishing is a big man who is always smileing. A lot of ppl mistake him for Bhoda. He not, but I am sure they think the same way about them as the rest of the world does.

Japanese people are just people. They think the same as everyone else when they see someone bigger, smaller, fatter, thinner, etc.

The only difference is that they respect and admire Sumo wrestlers - maybe we could all learn something from that!!
