Well I'm a scot.So far as i"m concerned the worst and most disgraceful act occurred in 1745.The jocobites, led by Bonny Prince Charles and the british forces under the Duke of Cumberland, met at Culloden Moor. The jacobites were slaughtered. After the battle Cumberland enacted a murderous revenge. The highlands were depopulated.scots were treated like cattle and shipped out to the New England colonies and Canada. The crofters lost thier land, which the landlords took over for sheep growing.Wearing of the kilt was banned. For my money this was a shameful period of british history.Thankfully this was the last conflict on british soil

I am thinking it was when Bush stole the 2000 election.
The invasion of Iraq parallels the Vietnam war in both cases the US betrayed itsself.
Other than that, Plessy vs Fergusson, the Trail of Tears,
Sacco and Vanzeti, the Palmer Raids, Bay of Pigs, the Kennedy Assasination - I still have no idea what really happened there.
Interning Japanese Americans, or the overall history of land acquisition in the US. Take your pick. Nixon having to resign ?

The decision of the Supreme Court to end the recount in Florida for the 2000 election. An obvious partisan decision by what is supposed to be a humbly non-partisan branch.
The encampment of Japenese Americans during WWII.
The massacre of the Native Americans.
Slavery in the South

Well actually there are 2 that come to my mind and the first one is when Bush was elected into office both times, and then the most disgraceful moment in USA history is without a doubt : September 11, 2001!!!
And this was something that our 'President" was WELL AWARE of and had the power to stop, yes the power, but not the brains.

I'm Russian.
The most disgraceful moment - 1985,Perestrojka started by president Gorbatchev and the desintegration of the USSR in 1991. I was very young, but felt terrified - I loved the country I lived in.

It's kind of funny when people within the US slam the partisan politics that exist right now. IT was actually much worse in the 1800s. Mud slinging and political violence were very common and much more derogatory then than they are now.
But, to answer your question. I believe the most disgraceful time in our history is everytime we forget that US soldiers are dying to make sure that we have the right to criticize the political leaders for sending them wherever. Instead of slamming politicians for their choices, we should be showing our support to US soldiers.
have a nice day.

From Sweden:
The forced mass-sterilization of mentally ill people during the 1930s' to the 1960s' (some claim it ended first in the 1970s').
This shameful act was first revealed about 4 years ago

Where to start
I personally have started to see my nations politics as a comedy show. They provide me with good laughter every few days.
The problem is that the burocracy in my country is so deeply entrenched no one in this countries administration knows what the other one is doing with the necessary screw ups every few days.
I think one of the best examples of disgrace for Belgium was allowing state enemy nr 1 Marc Dutroux(the pedophile) threaten his guards and escape by taking a gun from one of his guards, when they knew the gun was empty.

I'm pretty ashamed of the British treatment of the Irish during the settling there several hundred years ago. In addition the Allied bombing of Dresden in 1945 was horrific.
