how do you know when your ovulating i don't understand the whole concept of ovulating? is it not good to have sex during ovulation?

Ovulation is when the ovary releases an egg (ovum). For many women/girls, this happens about 14 days after the 1st day of your cycle (the first day that you bleed with your period). This can vary slightly. The egg travels down through the fallopian tube. If the egg is not fertilized, it will eventually pass through the uterus, and out (it is smaller than the head of a pin). In preparation for pregnancy, the uterus begins building up a cushiony layer of tissue to hold the fertilized egg. If the egg is not fertilized, then as the egg passes through, this tissue/bloody material also exits the uterus, through the cervix and vagina (your period).
It is not good to have unprotected sex around the time of ovulation if you don't want to get pregnant. If you DO want to get pregnant, you SHOULD have unprotected sex around that time.
Birth control pills work by shutting off the ovulation process.

ovulation occures half way through your cycle... for example...if your cycle is 28 days long...u'd ovulate around the 14th day of it. if u dont know how to count your cycle...start from the 1st day of your period always. periods get rid of your unfertilized egg. ovulation brings a new1. you can have sex durring ovulation just be aware that you are more at risk of getting pregnant then more than at any time of your cycle. hope this helped

ovaluation occurs from the 2nd or 3rd day of the period. the period syays till 7th day, on the 13th or 14th day the Ova (the female reproductive egg) rupturs, it stays for 36 hours, if you have unprotected sex during this 36hrs, the chances of getting pregnent is high, if the Ova doesnt get sperm whitin these 36 hrs or the 13th or 14th day... it comes down and on the 27th day you have ur period again...
