What state are you in? In some states, you can still qualify if you can prove that you felt you had to quit due to discrimination, hostile work environment, unsafe working conditions, and so on. Once you do that, however, you can write them off as a reference (it'll always be negative, of course). You may just have to leave a gap in future applications as to that period you worked for that employer in the job that you eventually quit. (It'd be nice if during that time you had some part-time employment and/or self-employment. Just spell out your reasons for quitting. You'll have to have a tribunal hearing (usually done via conference telephone call, during which time you and your employer will be able to testify---be ready for them to try to badmouth you! Just tell the truth---it usually wins out. If you have any witnesses who can vouch for you, you can tell the "case worker" assigned to hear your case about them.)

First of all, don't say merely that it was for morals and religious reasons. Be specific. You want someone to tell you how to write the appeal but you don't give any details.

i work for an appeals tribunal for unemployment. the most important thing is to get it in on time. usually within a week of mailing. you can simply write " i disagree" and that will get the process going. you can send a follow up letter (make sure you identify it as a followup letter and include a copy of your original). send a copy of the decision also. you will get a chance to explain yourself during the hearing.

Why should you be paid just because your religious or moral sensibilities have been offended? You quit, they didn't fire you.

If you were fired for your religious or moral beliefs that would be another matter.
Check with the EEOC and see what they say.
But I doubt it will help your appeal.

Depending on your reasons you can claim it was a hostile enviroment that wasn't going to change. You felt harrassed and had to leave for stress reasons.
