I always wanted to have a house plant ...something easy to take care of.
Any suggestions?

Pothos, philedendron, snake plant. All low care. Do not overwater them. Moderate light. moderate moisture.

A bromelaid is pretty easy to care for. They also have a beautiful flower that blooms throughout the year. You can get them large or small.
