I recently had to teach a class how to write the alphabet. Much to my surprise the letters in the teacher's guide were much different from the way we were taught (not that long ago) in teacher's college. The same seems to be true of cursive writing

sure there are many handwriting styles.

Arabic is worse, though... many different styles and it all means the same thing.. very fascinating.

Yes, there are many ways of writing the alphabet.
Kids are often taught one way in school, but they may adapt it. I have used different ways of forming certain letters over my lifetime, for example.
I'm sure that different writing systems teach different ways of forming the letters.

With cursive writing, it's probably more restrictive because you have to end up at the bottom of the letter so you can connect it to the next letter most of the time.

There are many different styles of writing. Most primaryschools adopt a particular style in order to be consistent - check what style your school advocates and stick to that one.

Some styles have q with a tail whilst others do not!

No capital letters should ever go below the line.

Every school should have a handwriting policy stating which way they want the kids to be taught to form the letters so someone in the school you are at should tell you how they want it done.
