I just started applebees 2 days ago, today was my second day of work. On the way there which is about 20 miles, I was riding with someone and our car broke down. So we had to walk 6 miles to get a payphone. I called work and I said I was gonna try and be there as soon as possible but I didn't show up at all! I had to work 2 shifts today. We waited for someone to pick us up from the store for 3 hours then we had to tow the car off the interstate. So I was just wondering if I was gonna get fired from there. I mean, I really like this job and I need it bad!! So help!!

Depends on how much of an *** the management at Applebee's wanna be! Very possible you may be fired because the situation shows that you may not have reliable transportation. Which, in turn, makes you unreliable.

i think as long as you call in and let them know your not going or going to be late thats what is important and it was an emergency and things like that happen just try not to miss or be late too much since you barely started you are probably on trial for like 30 days or more so they will or should give you a chance and if they let you go they will let you know by giving you less hours or laying you off so be cool ,good luck.

You can explain what happened to you. Provide evidences, like invoices from the tow. But you're pretty new, their impression on you is gonna be bad. I bet 70%, you're screwed.

Did you apologize to your manager and supervisor. Explain your situation the way you explained it here. Hopefully, because you are new, they will let you slid, this time.

You have to get a more reliable means of transportation.
