Does 'doing SAP BW' mean attending a course, or joining a project?

Doing a SAP BW course will not guarantee any improvement is your "career prospect" since most companies are looking for experienced people.

However, if 'doing SAP BW' means joining a project, then I would say that you should definitely do it. SAP experience is worth it's wait in gold.
