The elderly want a functional home. One where they can go about their business in their home, without having to step over clutter, or other things. It should be simple, and not have tons of empty space, but not have everything compacted into a small space either.

A Backpacker? A bit harder. I'd say plenty of space, functional, without all the funny colors, or other useless stuff. Artsy, but functional art. Not abstract art. Backpackers generally don't like to think about philosphy when they look at their house.

The young and youthful go for whatever the current fad is. As of right now, it seems to be 1960s-1970s style paint, strange, abstract art. Most of the time, it needs to be functional, but with all the bells and whistles.

A family with two kids? No sharp corners. Hardwood floors, or laminate, so that spills are easy to clean up. Seperate rooms for each child, with a master suite, so they can get away once in a while.
