Corruption is putting individual interest above that of a company or a country, e.g. taking bribes to win contracts. The way to irradicate needs to come from the top down and the bottom up:
> Legislate that all public recruitment and decision making is transparent and open to the public.
> Develop mechanisms for public enquiries following accusations of corruption.
> Have a truely free and independant press and judiciary not elected by or in the pay of politicians.
> Instill in the public that corruption isn't inevitable but a crime that makes everyone poorer.
> Make all public officials electable, and enourage the press to show outrage at acts of corruption.
> Impose heavy fines on those convicted of corruption.
> Have compulsary lessons in schools where issues of corruption are discussed.
> Reduce government grants/tax breaks to companies where employees are found guilty of corruption.
> Write clearly in employment contracts what is and isn't defined as a bribe, and what the penalties are for giving or receiving them.

Misuse of 'power' for personal benefit.

Don't think it can be erradicated unless the very nature the human species is changed.
I believe that no matter what race or creed you look at there will always be those that sit a little higher up with people below them. Not only do they have more power but some always want a little bit more. This can and does lead to some of them being corrupted.
If we all lived in a world where everyone was truly equal and everyone's wants and needs where met then 'maybe' corruption would be at an end.

I know that many people in America blame the governement and the "ruling" parties that control the country. Blah, blah, blah. With all the "inteligent" ramble that people do they seem to forget one major thing. There is not an "elite" status of people that governement officials and politicians are pulled from. The governement is established by the people of that age and the elected officials are pulled from the masses of that age. Corruption is simply a sign of the moral values or lack of that is adopted by the masses. A democracy is made up "by the people" which means that the government is an exact representation of the masses. If you don't like the corruption in the governement, I would suggest start by eliminating corruption in your home. Then maybe venture out and campaign your neighbors and the people in your neighborhood. After all, it's the young adults of today that will set the moral value for which governement will represent them tomorrow. Politicians have a tendency to be fake, to be "better" than the average Joe. When people start electing average "joe" then maybe their voice will be heard. However, electing normal people to occupy office would mean that individuals would have to come to terms with their own moral values. Accept responsibility for what they believe, and then become educated as to why they should believe it. This is far too much work for the average individual. It is much simpler to not vote, then complain later. Blame problems on party lines and then scream and holler. Most people would consider themselves liberal or conservative. These same people have no clue as to what the liberal or conservative agenda is. But don't lose heart, we can always rely on the media with their unbiased and honest approach to report just the facts, unhindered by bias.

.. in america, it is a control and rule beyond and above what the people know of and have a say in ... the way to erradicate it is to be informed of what is going on and shed light on the lies and misleadings of those that are corrupt .....ex: quit talking about and focusing on the "economic problems" in this country that are caused by illegal immigrants or war-spending and national debt, and focus and shed light on the real problem with the economy which is the federal reserve system ... the media and govt officials LIE to us and MISLEAD us off of the real solutions and what would expose their corruption and keep us quibbling over secondary issues ...
