If you've been working with a psychologist, by all means try to go ahead and bring it up. Psychologists run into people from all walks of life, with all sorts of interests and fetishes. The fact that there's a name for this condition should tell you something - you aren't the only one who has it!
Also, it might be that someone who is familiar with your personal history might be able to answer your question faster than someone who isn't. Certainly if you want to start addressing the situation, you're going to have to discuss it with someone sooner or later.
Sadly, I didn't have a lot of luck when I did a web search on the causes of coprophilia. I'm guessing you've done the same thing.
Best of luck -

If your concern is over a physiological health issue, then ask a doctor about the health remifications. Other wise you should look for someone who specializes in sexuality and talk to them, IF you really think that you need to talk to someone. It seems like you are in search of understanding, wich is perfectly normal when dealing with a subject that most people don't talk about. While a regular psychologist might have some insight, someone who specializes in sexual issues would be better equipped to answer your questions about the matter without making making any judgments as to your mental state.
You might also want to check out some of the related sites on the wab and look for FAQ's on the subject, someone ther migh have just the information you are looking for.
As to the why? Well, I can tell you that they don't even know what causes ANY form of sexual interest, let alone something that is outside what some narrow minded and unenlightened people would consider normal. And in truth, there isn't really anythig wrong with ANY form of sexuality as long as all involved partners are in agreement as to its expression. It is far better to express these things than to bottle them up and have them become something...else.
Sexuality is such a hotbed issue these days that anyting outside the average persons experience is deemed to be sick, wrong, or depraved. So just be careful as to who you mentin this to because people either won't, or, won't wan't, to understand.
If you dig it, do it. If you REALLY dig it, do it twice.

Friend, "scat" is as old as the hills. It evn holds a place in beauty lore: that a fecal facial tightens the skin. Maybe, but you'll waste a lot of time in th shower trying to get it all off.
Try to find a like-minded or open minded partner, and start in the shower. When I was into it in my 20s and early 30s, I had no problem finding a girl who liked the same thing as I did.
Everyone wants to eat it, it's it's sexually unfulfilling and leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Scat is a part of our sexual being as humans. Where do ou think the nickname "Scatman" comes from?
enjoy!

well you can't just wake up all of a sudden and say i like poo... it's weird ... it's amazing how things develop when we're small.. if they're not "corrected" then we end up all shrewed and stuff(i'm not saying you're shrewed up i'm just saying in general)Trust me i think you should talk to your psychologist... they've heared weirder stuff. just ask them they'll help you.. maybe they can give you some medication which is will give you some "breathing air" and make you relax. it's just a bad habit i guess that never got corrected when you were small.. trust me you're not the only one.. i remember watching a 60min show.... about people that wanted to amputade they're body parts just for a pleasure.. this guy was put on a medication and his urges went away. Maybe you should talk to your psychologist and see what medication is available for you. Trust them and they will help you. Hope my advice helps. Goodluck:)
oh and talk to your psychologist if you really want your urges to go away.

It sounds like you would better off talking to you psychologist about this than asking people on Yahoo Answers for advice. It's unlikely you'll find much help here, besides which you just admitted your "problem" to thousands of people you don't even know. So, why can't you talk to your psychologist?

a talk to your psycholigist is a good idea - you may be shamed of it but it's not different then those who like urine on thier face. it is unhealthy and gross but you can't help what turns you on.
talk to him/her about it - but make sure you are very happy with the person you are talking about and you trust them
good luck

If you are too embarrassed to speak to a professional- you need to find an online community or forum and vent there. The other members should be able to help you out.
