There could be a number of reasons why and you will never know unless you really ask them, which they may lie or deny it.

here are some of my theories why people are rude:

1. They think you are an easy target.
2. They see you have your life together and they want to be rude to you because they feel that you need to be treated badly because they have been.
3. The way they were raised.
4. They have miserable lives and they want to spread it.
5.They are racist and want to express their anger towards you for the entire race. *This is what I get all the time.
6. They may think you are attractive and hate you because they aren't.
7. They think you are ugly and want to treat you bad based on your looks.
8. They are arrogant and cocky and feel they don't have to be nice to you because you are beneath them.
9. You are intimidating to them and they are jealous of you for some reason.
10. They have emotional and behavioral problems.
11. It makes them feel better as a person to crap all over you.
12. They didn't have their parents teach them manners or consideration.
13. They are uneducated, have no social skills, and they are angry all the time.
14. because they can.

In short: We are in our own little worlds and are preconditioned to immediate gratification.

The long of it: Someone engrossed in a task to the exclusion of everything else. A similar attribute or vessel able to reciprocate their position that comes along becomes the first available outlet of frustration and anger.

Expression:
The correlation between aforesaid emotion is often tangent to the expression, so well versed is the human brain and condition to immutable facts that, when translated into tangibles, like road rage, becomes revealing and apologetic in court. Civically sanctioned acts would be epitomised in high pressured top-down managed corporates, where steam blown is in accompaniment with loss of jobs.

Immediate gratification:
An unspoken manifesto of consistency and immediacy of delivery preconditioned in society has disguised itself as to expectation of right of way or what is right. The precusors, Mcdonalds, other "fastfood" outlets, Ford Motors, have notion in practise. Real need and artificial mind constructs (Jones keeping up with Jones ), taken out of context, embodied in outbursts, translates into no more than a child not getting that french fry. Now.

With ( the above ) task immediacy and communal expectations, adding fuel to fire hardly brings order. It does however, give pause to recollect whatever we are doing. So next time when we blow at something or someone, it would be to our detriment not to consider a tactful way to defuse the situation. If the object of rudness, simply smile and be on your way, knowing you have the upperhand of being in control.

Don't take it personally!
Remember, any people have bad days too.
Also, many people do things without thinking of what the outcome might be- for better or worse.

We all are nuts to a certain degree.

Of course, there are many reasons, and you can be a part of it as well. We don't always see things very clearly!

some want to pour their insecurity to others. it boosts them up when someone is belittled by them. it's also a way to get rid of their disappointments on themselves- so you can say, they are sometimes irrational in just being rude. they have their own problems... they need some advise though rather than venting on other people who's not doing ANYTHING at all... that is so juvenile!
