My theory for the correct answer for this question is-- the minimun number is undeterminable because even though they are "mingled together" there could be a clump of say.eight blue ones together right where I deciede to take a handful from. Three is not the correct answer either because it would be like saying if you"d spread a deck of playing cards face down on a table and only picked up three--does that guarantee you"ll have 2 black + 1 red or

Why would I buy thousands of socks, and more to the point, why would I put them in a dark room?
My socks are in the sock draw in my bedroom, where there is ample light for ensuring the correct allocation of socks based on numbers and colour.
Finally, I am always in a hurry, but still manage to leave the house wearing amongst other things, a pair of clean matching socks........Hope this helps, you can be confident that I do not have a sock issue..
Thank you

Grab three socks and you will have a pair of either blue or black. Been there, done that.

Well for one thing: "sock" is singular, "socks" is plural as in "a pair of socks" - second, I would just grab a handful and hope for the best.
