why is it forbidden to be inlove with your own cousins? some culture wed thier cousins... you know to preserve the family property or something like that... but most people stay away from thier cousins..... i just want to know.... was it because of the religion?.... i heard those gen thingy have to do with it..... really?

yes ofcourse genetics plays some role as its been said if u have a baby with in ur own blood ...the baby is not fully healthy and faces some times so many issues like mentally disturbed,retarded,physicall challenged etc. so these kinds of fears are always in mind who wants to involve in with theiir cousins. In olden ages we have seen so many relations between uncles son or daughter (cousins) where in they get married also in same family mainly amongst hindus in India. but its slowly fading away becos of above reason and sometiimes when u marry in family all iissues comes up infront of all...who u dont want to get involved in sometimes..so i guess these are common reasons.

Incestuous relationships are forbidden (by the law) because the genetic defects their offspring produce. Depending upon how far removed cousins are, they can breed with little to no problems. First cousins are a definate no-no, but the further down the line you go, the less risk there is. Most states forbid the marriage of first cousins and siblings, however.

Some people are scared that genetical errors will be aggaravated in such close relationships. e.g. If the family have a problem with bad eyesight, that two cousins marrying might produce someone where the bad eyesight is WORSE.
Most people however see no problem with second cousins marrying.

It isn't forbidden to love anyone, Phoebe. What is a bad idea is to have children with close relatives because it can lead to genetic problems and birth defects.
If you are going to have sex with your cousin, don't get pregnant. If you don't know about birth control, don't have sex.
Things are easy if you remember a few simple rules.

I think because humans figured out long ago that such relationships could cause serious birth defects. The blood line is too close.
