I have my students debate which character did more harm in Jack and the Beanstalk- Jack or the giant. We hold court with jurors and everything.

Of course, any time you have students debate comic book heroes, you're bound to have a great class. :)

Let the students pick things that are relative to them first so that they can become comfortable with debating in public. Then, choose some more global topics like poverty or child obesity.
