I've done it before, in my younger years. They refused to serve me. Told me to go inside and order.

I don't think they have "sensors" to detect movement of a "body" outside the food window, but more than likely have video surveillance of some sort.

I have never done it but I do know people that have. I really dislike the fact that the restaurant is closed and it's only drive-thru opened. Simply put , not everyone drives a car. Although there is usually a camera that the person taking the order can use to see you, whether you can "get away" with walking thru a drive-thru depends on the worker. They can politely tell you "you can't order" but mostly they'll let you. After all, it's more money for the restaurant and most people would be embarrassed or desperate to walk through a drive-thru. Also, the workers are usually teens at the night shift so they tend to care less about "procedure".
