Men usually understand their role according to what they do. Boys have it all done for them; the decorations and goodies and gifts appear like magic. As grown men they don't understand what they're expected to DO; shopping is out of their line and so is appreciating the magic and sentiment of the season. If only there was a contest involved, they'd get it. They understand winning and losing, but they don't get "being". I feel a little sorry for them, honestly.

I'm a 48- year old man, and I love Christmas as much now as I did when I was a little kid. To me, it's still a magical time that just brings back great memories, as well as creating new memories every year!
I have trouble with suicidal depression. But whenever I start thinking about suicide, I am able to prevent it by simply realizing that I really want to experience next Christmas! Honest to God.

Because now most people don't feel the spirit of Christmas because they don't believe in Christ. Nowadays guys are more materialistic (getting chicks and all that) that thinking spiritually and for older people sometimes they're just confused because if you're older you want tradition on your family showing the grand-kids about the stories of baby Jesus and the celebration of his birth when everybody is supposed to be happy and give away
material and spiritual gifts like love and kindness

Um, I must beg to differ with you. My husband adores the hustle and bustle, the package wrapping, the cooking, and yes, even shopping. He is a "giver", so this pleases him. Perhaps the key is to remember to include men in the holiday-and don't forget that they, too, have their hearts set on a special present. He will be getting that new fly rod he has ached for for years this year, and will wiggle like a puppy when he does, too! Please don't forget the men in your life......they need the joy and happiness, too!

Maybe because they don't receive presents!
Maybe your grand pa wants to go deep sea fishing?
Maybe your dad wants Sport or celebrity memorabilia?
Maybe your brother wants some F1 Experience?

you guys expect us to give you great gifts and we ,,, well we get even less than on fathers day during which compared to mother day we get ignored. Glad it is a pagan holiday, i spent a life given great gifts and can not remember receiving a single treasure. I know some people do not live that but many do

because nobody buys them toys any more! a few years ago, my daughter bought my son-in-law 2 hockey cards. He spent the whole holidays looking through all his old cards, and rearranging them. i'll bet it was the best christmas he had since his first son was born.
