The knowledge about phentermine and pregnancy is incomplete. Your dr could have honestly said he/she is unaware of any side effects in pregnancy, but could not have said honestly that there will be no negative side effects, because there is insufficient information.
Quit taking them now. Do you wish to be a guinea pig, or have a medical article written about you? When you evaluate the risks and rewards, you must consider the magnitude of the risk. Plus, while pregnant, you want to make sure both you and your child have sufficient nutrient stores.
You would be much better taking a prenatal vitamin, with folic acid as other have said, AND combine this with prenatal exercise routines. An exercise regimen while you are pregnant will greatly ease delivery and make it easy to lose weight after delivery.
Good luck in your pursuits to have a child, but please do not place the child at risk by taking a medicine which is not only unproven, but was also one of the components of a dangerous drug that has been removed from the market.

Good day to you.. As far as I know, those medications for weight loss is only concomitantly taken w/ contraceptive pills, because it doesnt do any harmful effects. But, when you and your husband is trying to have a baby, i would rather not take those medicines anymore but replace it w/ vitamins rich in folic acid and vitmain e (vit e aside from its antioxidant property helps women to conceive 'faster'). I was once using Sibutramine, and i read on the leaflets that such medications didn't have studies on pregnant, lactating and those women trying to cenceive so its much better to stop the medication before planning to have a baby.. don't take chances.. having a slender body isnt worth the risk of having a child w/ so much problems.

I would recommend you stop taking them. I was taking them and I just happened to mention this to my dentist before i had some work done. Good thing I did because then he had to pre treat me with a strong antibiotic because this pill tends to cause make you more suseptable to heart issues. Long explanation but there is a link. ANyway. I was on prozac when I found out I was pregnant and my ob doc did not want me to stop taking the meds. He said there was not study saying it was harmful to the baby. THere was also nothing proving it didn't so I stopped. But I was almost through my 1st trimester when I found out I was pregnant and my daughter was born with a host of health problems and no one can say it was or was not linked to prozac, so why chance it. Also start taking folic acid now. This is a great vitamin to help prepare your ody for a baby

You should stop taking them, it hasn't been around long enough to know the harmful side effects it could have on your baby. Plus you need to make sure you are getting all the right nutrition to your baby. I took Phentermine for a while and before my Dr put me on it he made sure I had good birth control in place and told me it was important to not get pregnant while on it. Not to scare you, but I actually did end up getting pregnant on it and we ended up losing that baby at 5 months due to amniotic band syndrome. The Dr.'s said that they don't know why amniotic band syndrome happens and it probably was not related, but I can't help the guilt that I feel it may have been. It's just not worth it.

You should never take weight loss pills during pregnancy. Sure, take them while trying to conceive but you should quit them as soon as you find out that you're pregnant. It's ridiculous that the doctor told you they wouldn't have harmful effects. You're supposed to gain weight during pregnancy, if you lose weight then your baby might not get the nutrients necessary to aid in it's development. Good luck to you and I hope that it will happen quickly for you.

Well, along with the weight loss pill you should be taking a prenatal vitamin to build up your folic acid levels to help prevent certain birth defects, such as Spina Bifida. I would go on a low-dose birth control pill (Yasmin is great) until you are off of the weight loss pill.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

You shouldn't get pregnant until you are at a healthy weight WITHOUT being on pills. Your risk of complications gets much higher when you're fat.

Do your trips to market with a list and a time limit; that way, you're not as likely to stray into the refined foods section.
