well, we can't really answer this question for you without knowing you and your personal situation.

I am a little unsure as to what a "goth" is. I used to get called a goth for wearing black jeans, doc martens, and a black bonds t-shirt. Sure, there was a lot of black, but I would hardly call it gothic! (lazy, if anything... black doesn't show the dirt!)

What do you consider a goth to be? Someone who wears lots of black clothes/ heavy makeup? Someone who has a deep fascination and respect for gothic architecture? Someone who closely associates with the work of Edgar Allan Poe? I know these are not 'definitions', but I guess if you think about what YOU consider to be gothic, and how you consider yourself gothic, you may come close to realising why you first associated yourself as a goth.

If you find that associating with other goths is bringing you down, detracting from what you consider to be important in life, adversely affecting your self-esteem or negatively affecting your social networks and support sytems (etc. etc.), well maybe you might consider finding a new social circle to associate with.

If you are considering a change in lifestyle because other people are telling you it is scary/ gross/ unfeminine, then I would suggest you reconsider. Being a goth is not for everyone, but it is for some! If being a goth is a postive and rewarding aspect of your life (I know, talking about postive goths does sound oxymoronic!), then you should do what makes you happy, and to hell with everyone else!

And besides, NOBODY can apply eyeliner like a goth! lol

If you are actually gothic, and not merely dressing the part, it isn't something you ever really stop being, no matter what you're wearing. It's an outlook, or an in-joke, or something.
An appreciation for beauty of another kind.

Go stealth, if you want to.
Wear something else, listen to different music.
You are still you, as you have always been.

If you are asking if you should stop being something then you really arent that thing. Should a person stop being blue eyed, gay, black?
If its a core belief to be gothic it might not chnage. For example, Should a person stop being antiabortion in cases of rape? I would say yes, but my beliefs cant change theirs. One thing I know is people who try to look ridiculous dont usualy go further than minimum wage jobs like starbucks.

You know, I've never actually met a real Goth. Six and a half foot tall Germanic barbarian, who helped to bring about the fall of the Roman Empire are few and far between around these parts. It sounds original, and everybody should strive for originality.

Why? If you enjoy your look, who cares what other people think. I personally like the gothic, punk look. At least you can have confidence that you don't look the same as anyone else.

Well... I find goth girls very beautuful & expressive, they look powerful and fragile at the same time. Why do you wanna stop anyway? Havin' trouble at school/work?... I think - not matter how much like a clichee it will sound - you should just be yourself and "nevermind what the people say".
Whoever will love you, will love you for what you are on the inside & on the outside too, I'm sure you are beautiful.
So no , don't stop

Why did you become "gothic" to begin with? To follow a trend or because it's what you liked?
No one should tell you what you should or should not do.
