Sir Alexander Fleming discover Penicillin!

The serendipitous discovery of penicillin is usually attributed to Scottish scientist Alexander Fleming in 1928, though others had earlier noted the antibacterial effects of Penicillium. Fleming, at his laboratory in St. Mary's Hospital (Now one of Imperial College teaching hospitals) in London, noticed a halo of inhibition of bacterial growth around a contaminant blue-green mould on a Staphylococcus plate culture. Fleming concluded that the mould was releasing a substance that was inhibiting bacterial growth and lysing the bacteria. He grew a pure culture of the mould and discovered that it was a Penicillium mould, now known to be Penicillium chrysogenum. Fleming coined the term "penicillin" to describe the filtrate of a broth culture of the Penicillium mould. Even in these early stages, penicillin was found to be most effective against Gram-positive bacteria, and ineffective against Gram-negative organisms and fungi. He expressed initial optimism that penicillin would be a useful disinfectant, being highly potent with minimal toxicity compared to antiseptics of the day, but particularly noted its laboratory value in the isolation of "Bacillus influenzae" (now Haemophilus influenzae).[1] After further experiments, Fleming was convinced that penicillin could not last long enough in the human body to kill pathogenic bacteria and stopped studying penicillin after 1931, but restarted some clinical trials in 1934 and continued to try to get someone to purify it until 1940.

Discovered Penicillin - Alexander Fleming, John Sheehan, Andrew J Moyer
Penicillin is one of the earliest discovered and widely used antibiotic agents, derived from the Penicillium mold. Antibiotics are natural substances that are released by bacteria and fungi into the their environment, as a means of inhibiting other organisms - it is chemical warfare on a microscopic scale.

Penicillin is a natural product and is not invented.

I believe that it's biological activity was first observed by Ernest Duchesne at the end of the 19th century; it was "re-discovered" by Flemming and his co-workers in the 1920's.

Despite Flemming's efforts, and those of Raistrick , no significant progress was made in the development of penicillin as a usable antibiotic until Florey, Chain & Heatley, at Oxford University, discovered the route to large scale production of the material and also discovered its structure.

For their work Florey, Chain & Flemming were awarded the Nobel Prize for Medecine in 1945. There is some debate as to whether Heatley was more deserving of the prize than Flemming.

First of all , nobody invvented penicillin ,. in the 1900's , a scientist (I am not sure with the name) discovered it as a bacteria. although it was a huge discovery , many people , including me , are highly allergic to it. for example , I took it as a perscription , and my eye really swool up!
