I don't think the color is as important as the fit. In fact, some beauty editors say that black makes you look bigger because you have a strong silhouette when you wear black. Get clothes that fit you well and skim undesirable areas of the body. Of course, any horizontal stripes add width to your body and so do large prints. But go wild with color. It will make you feel sexy as well as make you look good.

I suppose darker colors are most likely to make you appear slimmer. In the end though, it all comes down to fit and style. You can buy a black dress, but if it is the wrong style for your bodytype, then you may as well be wearing it in white!

1. Don’t wear frills or extra material that adds bulk. Don’t wear bulky sweaters, or sweatshirts.
2. Avoid shiny fabrics such as velour and satin.
3. To make your legs appear smaller wear dark hose. Don’t wear patterned tights.
4. Don’t wear oversized, shapeless clothing to hide bulges– they will make you appear larger instead.
5. Wear undergarments that have good support.
6. Dress in monochromatic colors without patterns. Darker colors will make you appear smaller – navy, dark green, gray or black.
7. Avoid horizontal stripes. Thin vertical lines will give a slimming look.

Dark colors absorb light and minimize, chevron (downward triangle) patterns and vertical stripes are slimming, and the opposite effect occurs with shiny, bright and light colors.
It's a pretty simplistic question.

Black will do, but anything monochromatic. Wear the same color on top and bottom to make you look thinner and taller.
