ok this is exactly what i do: I go to options. then account info.
There is my yahoo id card. I changed my name to my real name, and it is still there correctly. there is no save button on the left, there is a finished button on the right. I have done this several times.
but ok, say i emailed you, and you go to your inbox, without clicking on the message yet, where all your messages are posted and where it identifies who the mail is from that is where it still says Kimberly KoWitch???????
am i just being stupid? why does this seem so hard?

Sorry Kimberly you cannot change yahoo id but you can create a new one and just email your friends to let them know your new id.

It does look like you typo'ed your own name; but why on earth did you use your own name?
The info you changed are for Yahoo to identify you; and they took everything you typed in. The ID, I guess, for your email, like Kimberly_KoWitch@yahoo.com, is a fixed ID. And you are not stupid.
If you want KimKoWach, or anything, then create another ID, tell your friend, and do not use the old one. After 6 months without activity from you, it will be closed by Yahoo. but that ID will not be available by anyone. It is used.

Okay I read what you said you have done.....now please give this a try, I do not know for sure if it will work or not. Go to your buddy list click on messenger at the top, then click on my contact info......your account info page is not the same as your contact card. Delete the name from the contact card and put in what you want to show up......I havent had this problem with email....but when I was iming people it would show my name and I didnt want it to....this is what I did and it worked....so its at least worth giving it a shot.

I tried changing my yahoo ID as well. You can't! You can change your password but thats it. The only way you can have a different ID is to get an new yahoo account!

You can try calling yahoo.
Go to 411.com
type in yahoo inc
in the state of Ca. and the # will be there.
or
try 1800 myyahoo

i dont think you can change your id but you could create another one
