There seems to be an epidemic in my part of Sussex. Not seen it before, or I may have overlooked occasional cases, but this year there are lots. Burrowing rabbits mainly, but not all.

My nephews had two pet rabbits which were kept in a hutch in their back garden both of which succumbed to the disease a month or so ago. It was awful for them, the symptoms are so horrible my sister had them both put to sleep as soon as they realise what it was. I used to work on a golf course for a couple of years when i was younger and we found a few that had died from it every year, compare to the amount that lived on the course though it was a small percentage.

I live in Somerset and work for a wildlife rescue centre. There does seem to have been quite a few around this year, but it is a very NASTY man-made diease that still comes around every few years. I picked a bunny up off the side of the road the other day with completely sealed up eyes. Poor thing had to be put down as it is impossible to treat after a week and will spread to the rest of the burrow. Its a vey very sad affair and just shows what idiotic cruelty man is capable of

Yes, It a horrible thing put down by humans to kill off rabbit populations.

In this day and age one would think that we could come up with a better solution than Myxomatosis to control rabbits.

They suffer terribly, where are the so called Animal Rights Movement when they are needed.

A rabbit walks into a pub, orders a pint and a cheese and onion toasted sandwich. The barman is a little perplexed but serves him anyway.
The following day, same thing happens.Pint and a cheese and onion toasted sandwich.
This goes on for a week .
Then the rabbit comes in and says "Usual please barman but I'm really hungry today. Can I have a cheese and ham toasted sandwich as well please"
The following day,no rabbit.
Finally 2 weeks later the rabbit is back in the pub.
"Haven't seen you for a while"said the barman
"No" said the rabbit "I've been ill"
"Really" said the barman "What was wrong with you?"
"Mixingmetoasties"said the rabbit

Thankfully not yet but to be on the safe side check with your local vet as he may recommend vaccinating the rabbit.

Quite a lot in Surrey again this year.
Poor things.
How could man justify creating such an awful disease??!!! I am a country person through and through but can't bear to see them suffer in this way.
