Whatever is wrong with it sounds like a repairman is best option. I have seen a few refrigerants that had a bad start relay on them. Its a cheap part and easy to replace. Before unit is condemned make sure he checks compressor windings. That relay will let lights come on but compressor will not start. Also plug a light in or something like that to make sure plug does have power.

It could be the defrost timer. It should be under the refrigerator. Take the little grill off the front and see if you can locate it. There will be a stem like knob coming out of it. Turn that and see if the compressor starts. Some you need a screwdriver to turn the knob. They are actually flush with the housing. There are a few other things, but that is the easiest for you to check. I serviced GE refrigerators and I did have to replace the compressors in some that we fairly new. I retired years ago but I thought the compressor warranty was 5 years.

Does the light work? Yes, then fridge is getting power.

Is the compressor running? Yes, then needs a charge.

Nothing? Cancel the appointment and go to the appliance store.

on a two year old refrigerator it is usally not the compresor see if the light is on first and then clean the condenser underneath then after you have done that and still not running find your t stat unplugg your unit take out the t stat remove the two wires and tape them together and plug it in that will tell you if you have a bad t stat if still not working call a tech

You might pull the unit out and look at the compressor in the back, if it has a little red button on it push it in, it could be a thermal reset, if it goes out again, call the repairman. Also look to see if dirt and debris, sometimes a mouse is keeping air from circulating around the compressor

have you tried unplugging it and then plugging it back in....a good kick with the same coloured shoe might help too...could just be a loose wire that is not quite connecting the kick might jar it back

hi, check if the bulb is on. that would ensure both power and thermostat controls.
