How do you increase the number of characters in each selection in a drop down box from the 50 default characters?

making the font smaller doesn't change the defualt of 50 characters per selection and I tried the function keys, this does not change the default either. Is there a way to change the default? Please answer if you really know how to do this in a drop-down box in Word 2003.

Make the font smaller. Use one of the function keys.
