When the pilgrim fathers landed at Plymouth rock in 1620.They set about building a colony.The name is derived from an indian tribe or village nearby.The name means Land of many hills.This is the site of present day boston.Certainly the quakers founded the state.In 1630 british ships brought thousands of puritans to the new settlement.The puritans were not quakers

The pilgrim`s landed in Massachusetts on what they named Plymouth Rock on the 21st December 1620. All that I have found about your question is that they were the first so I presume they (the pilgrims) founded Massachusetts
